GOOD Magazine Gives a Minute for Give a Minute

Check out Alissa Walker’s piece in GOOD Magazine on our new project called Give a Minute, which just launched in Chicago. It’s a citizen participation platform that re-interprets public process, allowing people to post ideas for improving their city on a virtual bulletin board which will be read by civic, government and business leaders. The best ideas get a response back from these same leaders.

Recently, Jake gave a talk called “Making History: 9/11 Memorial Museum Media” with the Museum’s Executive Vice President for Programs, Memorial Museum Director, Alice Greenwald. Jake gave a preview of the media we are creating for the 9/11 Memorial Museum at the Museum’s Preview Site near Ground Zero, to a sold-out venue.

Local Projects is a Finalist in the 2010 National Design Awards

We’re both humbled and thrilled to announce our selection as a Finalist by the Smithsonian’s Cooper Hewitt, National Design Museum for the 2010 National Design Awards. The National Design Awards celebrate the best in American design. Finalists are selected from a pool of roughly 2500 nominees for originality, innovation, imagination and insight in their body of work. The awards honor excellence in design that impacts the public’s quality of life. We are also very excited for Jake to attend the presentation of awards at the White House!

In Pursuit of Freedom on view at Boston Society of Architects

Designs for “In Pursuit of Freedom” for the Brooklyn Historical Society & The Weeksville Heritage Center are presently on view at the Boston Society of Architects, 52 Board Street, Boston. The exhibition will be up through the end of March. The project will be featured in Keith Moskow and Robert Linn’s forthcoming book Small Scale: Creative Solutions for Better City Living published by Princeton Architectural Press.
